Another great edition! It’s cool to see things from many different Spanish speaking countries so that Spanish learners can understand the nuances between pronunciations and vocabulary from place to place. No two countries (or even regions within the same country) speak Spanish in the exact same way!
Thanks for the support mate! Hopefully we can keep spreading the word and make this community even bigger - I’d love to start including more reader recommendations 😊
My Spanish teacher in COVID, when I returned to learning after a 30+ year hiatus, was Guatemalan. He was proudly going to an Arjona Concert and shared Fuiste Tu with the class.
I loved the passion of that song and added El Problema (which really helped to solidify that “problem” was male and not female!) and Minutos, into my Spanish playlist rotation.
Now I keep 4 different Spanish playlists: slower placed songs, lively hits and heavier songs, with the 4th being for songs that I “retire” but don’t want to totally lose.
If I’m in the car alone, one of those 4 are usually playing!
What do others do to listen and curate music in Spanish?
I'll leave others to come in with their Spanish-language song choices Eric - I'd love to hear them too! But just to say that I'm glad you're a fan of Fuiste Tu... I'll happily belt it out in the shower haha...
Interestingly, there's also a statue of Mafalda in our city of Oviedo, in Asturias. Here's an artile about how and why that happened: https://www.20minutos.es/viajes/destinos/curiosa-historia-estatua-mafalda-oviedo-5080237/
Thanks for sharing Erika - this is fascinating! 👍🏻
Right? People here are BIG Mafalda fans - I had never even heard of her till we moved here!
